Glyndebourne On Tour

Glyndebourne On Tour

9 October - 4 December 2010

Now in its 42nd year, Glyndebourne on Tour (GOT) presents three productions for its 2010 touring programme. Booking is now open.

Incorporating both new and familiar productions, GOT is led by Czech conductor Jakub Hrŭša in the first year of his tenure as Music Director.

Mozart’s Don Giovanni, a new production from the 2010 Festival originally directed by Jonathan Kent, is revived for the Tour by director Ashley Dean. GOT Music Director Jakub Hrŭša will conduct the majority of the performances, with Norwegian-born baritone Auden Iversen in the title role.

Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Peter Hall’s 2005 Festival production, is revived by director Lynne Hockney. The baton is shared between Spanish conductor Enrique Mazzola, who conducted the 2007 GOT production of L’elisir d’amore, and former Glyndebourne Chorus Master Thomas Blunt. The role of Cinderella (Angelina) is sung by Canadian mezzo-soprano Allyson McHardy.

Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea was first staged in the 2008 Festival, directed by Robert Carsen. A co-production with Opéra National de Bordeaux, it was shown there last June, before being hired to Vienna’s Theatre an der Wien this January. Revived for the Tour by director Bruno Ravella and conducted by Jonathan Cohen, the title role will be sung by German soprano Christiane Karg in her UK opera debut.

GOT, together with the Glyndebourne Festival, reaches an audience of over 140,000 people annually, with the Tour continuing to be made possible thanks to the long-standing support of Arts Council England. After a three-week run at Glyndebourne, GOT travels to Woking (2nd -6th November), Milton Keynes (9th -13th November), Norwich (16th-20th November), Plymouth (23rd -27th November) and Stoke-on-Trent (30th November - 4th December).

GOT 2010 will also revive its hugely successful Performances For Schools, offering students of various age-groups access to two performances at Glyndebourne, and for Stoke-on-Trent students, a Performance for Schools at the town’s Regent Theatre.
